Hand-for-hand play in our kickoff event was over as soon as it started, with the bubble bursting on the first hand.

Facing blinds of 5,000/10,000 and holding the Ace of diamonds and Jack clubs in the hijack seat, Jason Quiroz moved all-in for his remaining 35,000 chips. The action folded around to chip leader Justin Greilich in the big blind, who looked down at the Ace-Nine of spades. With a commanding stack of over 600,000 Greilich made the call, putting Quiroz's tournament life at risk.

The flop came Queen-Nine-Six, all clubs, pairing Greilich's nine and giving him the lead. Quiroz would need to catch a jack or a club to survive. The turn brought the five of hearts, followed by the four of hearts on the river, and Quiroz was out.

Greilich's pair of nines held up, sending Quiroz to the rail on the bubble. The chip leader extended his stack to approximately 675,000. Meanwhile, William Brown, one table away, was ecstatic to see the bustout as he was sitting on a stack of just 2,000, one-fifth of a big blind.
